The move from an academic environment to industry is a challenge. Using an approach suitable for research settings will most likely not meet the expectations of the industrial market. A successful applicant knows that it takes more than convincing application documents to leave competitors behind.
Awareness about the current labor market, a cautious evaluation and matching of existing and requested skills are as important as a clearcut idea of the added value brought to the company in question. These thoughts are not only important to match the job profile to the self-image in the application but also for the interview process. The seminar will give insights into basic elements for a convincing application strategy. Differences between academic and industry applications will be illustrated and initial ideas allowing the development of an individualized approach will be shared.
